ACEC Life/Health Trust Website
ACEC Life/Health Trust provides insurance products to the American Counsel of Engineering Companies. My role in the production of this website was to write every word of it. The Trust’s tagline, “You Belong,” was part of my work product. This tagline appears on all of their branded materials.
AHA Get With The Guidelines Brochure
The American Heart Association “Get With The Guidelines” program encourages healthcare professionals to focus on vital signs in cardiac care. This brochure offered them technical assistance in mining patient data for improved outcomes. The gray areas were printed in metallic silver. The cover featured a die-cut hole in the center, teasing the reader open and read more. I helped gather the input, develop the concept and write the text, cover to cover.
Shermco “Day in the Life” Video
I wrote this bit of story-telling for Shermco Industries. The goal was to demonstrate their responsive wind turbine services in an engaging, visual way. Think of it as a 6-minute video brochure. No reading required!
Sabre Airline Solutions Website
I got the tiger by the tail when I landed this project for Sabre. Their agency called me in to write more than 200 pages of detailed content for this totally revamped website. I spent months meeting with subject matter experts, translating notes into content, content into web pages and managing a team of four other writers to get it all done. I needed a vacation when it was finished. I think it turned out great.
Cognizant “Navigating the Shift” Catalog
Cognizant helps major global companies stay on the cutting edge. Over time, they had created volumes of content around Business Intelligence and Analytics. I was hired to write this brochure, offering overviews of their major content categories, which then led readers to their digital library via QR links. This piece was used extensively in sales calls and business conferences.
Charlie’s Guitar Shop Small Space Ads
The place to go for rock-star stringed instruments in Dallas is Charlie’s Guitar Shop. I worked up this small-space ad campaign for placement in national guitar enthusiast magazines. The idea,”Only the Good Stuff,” featured “hero” merchandise shots with catchy headlines, driving traffic to the website. It worked.
ENTOUCH Controls Corporate Brochure
This fast-tech flyer of a company needed the full gamut of marketing materials when we met. Their CMO hired me to work on their positioning, themeline, web text, marketing collateral, email invites, blog content, the works. The brochure was the anchor project. From it, I learned most of what I needed to deliver the rest. Good people. Good work. Glad I had the chance to contribute.
FastSigns :60 Radio Spot
FastSigns had a limited media play scheduled for this spot, so they needed a creative, memorable script to demonstrate their applications in a :60-second format. I backed into the script, building curiosity with a series of intriguing sign applications, then ended with the call to action. The classic linear approach, delivered by a sterling voice talent, won several industry awards.
Prelude Negative Space Ad
Who says white space doesn’t work? This ad made the most of it, demonstrating the point by leveraging the headline, “A Moment of Silence…”, to call attention to the grief over wasted money on full, on-premise software deployments. Yes, I’ll take the award, thank you!
Resulte Long Copy Ad
Who says long copy doesn’t work? I wrote this full page Business Journal ad to look like an editorial page, including ad placements, cartoon inserts and a Q&A with the president. The entire page is actually one big advertisement for Resulte, who got so many calls from the ad, they had to staff up to handle the business.
Omega Redefining-the-Competition Ad
After Omega dramatically expanded their inventory, their wholesale price on automotive A/C parts dropped considerably. They were now selling at or near the cost of rebuilt parts. I used this to create a compelling reason to buy, comparing “new” parts to “formerly broken.” The salvage vendors cried foul and begged the publication to stop running the ad.
Gauge-It Website
This gadget website has been converting visitors into buyers for awhile now. It features good, old-fashioned sales copy, with lots of application photos and wood-working tips. I came up with the “Don’t Guess It, Gauge-It” tagline and wrote every word of the text. It was a fun assignment for a “measure twice, cut once” kind of writer.
Elysian Hospice Brochure
Despite the unfortunate complexity of the name of this hospice (e-LEE-shun), this brochure helped position the service as the preferred hospice in its class. I served as the creative director and writer on the piece, working with the client and designer to pull together a warm, compassionate story that offered hope and help to clients in need.
Estrella Oaks Rehab Center Brochure
Mason Health operated a number of rehabilitation and care centers around Texas, each incorporating much the same features and amenities. To save money, I recommended a collateral “shell” concept, so they could reproduce this piece market-by-market with only minor changes. I served as creative director and writer, and penned the tagline, “Feel Better. Live Well.”
